There are many ways to experience an African safari – game drives, bush walks, even aerial tours, which take you up over the plains. There is, however, something intimate and special about experiencing a safari on horseback from Kenya to Tanzania. Galloping across the wide open savannah and rolling hills teaming with wild game, is one of the best experinces one gets on horseback safaris.

Kenya

The Chyulu Hills in South East Kenya is a limitless expanse, rich with game and rugged, diverse vegetation. Go riding at Ol Donyo Lodge - the ideal location for some horseplay, the area has been quoted as “the best horse riding country in Africa”.

The Laikipia Plateau at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Oljogi Wildlife Conservancy and Borana Ranch among other beautiful places is another wonderful destination for horse riding safaris and excursions with its rolling savanna and hills teaming with wildlife combined with exclusive lodges, villas and camps.

In the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve horse riding safari are available at the private conservancies that surround the game reserve giving you the chance to embark on a horse riding excursion returning to your luxury camp at your pleasure.

Tanzania

Go riding in the grassy plains of Tanzania, at the crème de la crème of lodges within the Serengeti – Singita Grumeti Game Reserve. At the Singita Grumeti Game Reserve's Equestrian Centre, riders can enjoy cantering out onto the plateau among the wildlife. The 2 - 8 day riding safaris, which branch out, between Singita Sasakwa Lodge, Singita Explore and Singita Faru Faru Lodge are flexible and cater to the individual needs of each rider. Please note this safari experience is not ideal for the novice rider.
