South-West Zanzibar Island Destination South of Stone Town airport the Fumba Peninsula. The Beaches of South-West Zanzibar Island Coast.
Kizimkazi Village Lagoon Beach
Kizimkazi is a small fishing village made up of two villages: Kizimkazi Dimbani and Kizimkazi Mkunguni. The coral-floored lagoon runs up onto decent sandy beaches. The beautiful white sandy beaches are quiet and un-crowded and for those in search of a no fuss peaceful quiet relaxing time this is the place.
Fumba Peninsula
Further north on the Fumba peninsula, there is a much less pronounced coral cliff and more conventionally sandy beaches, although the quality of the sand itself is not so white and powdery as elsewhere and the lagoon floor is largely coral rather than sand in most places. But somewhere like Fumba Beach Lodge does enjoy a real sense of remoteness and, more importantly, access to the islands around the area.
Chumbe Island
Meanwhile a few kilometers offshore, Chumbe Island is a tiny coral island about six miles southwest of Zanzibar Town. It is surrounded by the protection of a marine park, and under the water's surface you'll find some of the best coral gardens anywhere in the world. The Island is served by the Chumbe Island Lodge is at the heart of the tiny island.

Dimbani Mosque
This place of worship dates from 1107 AD. Though disappointing from the outside with only a small plaque indicating its significance, and a rusty unimpressive roof, the mosque retains a tranquil charm within. Guests must remove their shoes, ask before taking photographs and be respectful. Visits are not permitted during prayer-times.
Miza Miza Caves
This cave which is associated with many legends, one should certainly not call out a person’s name in the cave on account of an ancient king’s wife who was turned to stone when her name resounded within.
