Days 1 - 2: Nyungwe Forest

Once landed, you will be picked up and transferred to Nyungwe Forest.  En-route, you will stop off in the historically important district of Huye. You’ll be able to visit various cultural destinations including the impressive National Museum, and the Royal Palace where the last king of Rwanda now in resided – now also a museum. On arrival at Nyungwe Forest, you’ll check into the comfortable Nyungwe Forest Lodge an impressive lodge set in a tea plantation overlooking the Nyungwe Rain Forest.

On your second day here, you’ll be able to go Chimpanzee trekking. As a priority area for conservation in Africa, you’ll be able to see many more species of animals here too. After tracking Chimps, you’ll be able to take a canopy walk over the forest for great views of the rich birdlife and Vervet Monkeys.

Day 3: Kibuye, Lake Kivu

You’ll be driven to Kibuye, the capital of the Western Province in Rwanda, where you will check into the beautiful lake-front Moraa Hill Resort. You will then have the rest of the day at your leisure to relax by Lake Kivu, alternatively take a boat ride across the lake or visit the stadium where many people were killed during the genoside.

Kibuye town is probably the prettiest town in Rwanda surrounded by hills covered in eucalyptus and pine and interwoven with the lagoon like arms of the lake which give the area a pristine, almost Alpine feel.

Day 4: Gisenyi Town, Lake Kivu

After being driven to Gisenyi town Lake Kivu, you will be able to check into the relaxing Paradise Malahide or Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. Near the beach on the lake-front, you will then be able to take a boat ride on Lake Kivu and enjoy absolutely stunning views.

Days 5 - 7: Volcanoes National Park / Parc National des Volcans

You will be driven to the spectacular Volcanoes National Park / Parc National des Volcans where you will check into Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or Sabyinyo Gorilla Forest Lodge, ready for your Gorilla tracking adventure! You’ll have the rest of this day at your leisure, to acclimatize and take in magnificent views of Mount Sabyinyo and the surrounding wilderness.

On your second day, you will go Gorilla trekking. With a range of treks available for different abilities, there are opportunities for everyone to spot these fascinating and majestic animals. Trek into the rainforest for an unforgettable encounter!

On the third day, you will have the chance to track endangered Golden Monkeys amongst their bamboo habitats, at the base of volcanoes. These charming animals offer an entertaining and unique experience!

Day 8: Volcanoes National Park / Parc National des Volcans – Kigali City

On this day you will be driven back to Kigali city for your flight back home if time allows you can undertake some shopping for souvenirs or/and visit the genocide museum in the city.
